Nathan⁶ Whitney (David⁵, Nathan⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of David⁵ and Rebecca (Edgecom) Whitney, was born 10 Sep or 9 Oct 1769, Gorham, ME, and died 4 Jun 1852, Marietta, OH.

He married, 3 Mar 1796, Hallowell, ME, Eunice Cottle, daughter of Isaac and Rhoda (Manchester) Cottle. She was born about 1779, MA.

vi.	Denis Whitney, b. ca. 1809, MA. He was probably the Dennis Whitney, b. ca. 1810, MA who was enumerated with his family in Webster, Marshall Co., WV in 1870.
vii.	Thankful Whitney, b. ca. 1815; d. 11 Oct 1888, Proctor, WV.
viii.	Haman Whitney, b. ca. 1818, VA. He was perhaps the Haman Whitney, b. ca. 1812, VA enumerated with his family in 1870 in Prarie, Madison Co., AR.
ix.	Roda Whitney, b. 6 Jun 1820, VA; d. 31 Oct 1894, Proctor, WV.
