Family:Whitney, Oscar Newman (1842-1915)

Oscar Newman⁹ Whitney (Oscar F.⁸, Zerah⁷, James⁶, Samuel⁵, Samuel⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of Oscar F.⁸ and Electa A. (Bryant) Whitney, was born 29 Jun 1842, Lakeville, MI, and died 10 Dec 1915, aged 73 years. He was buried in Fairplains Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MI.^[1]

He married, before 1873, Ellen M. Fourn. She was born about 1853, OH, and died 28 Aug 1906, aged 56 years. She was buried in Fairplains Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MI.^[2]

He served in the Civil War in Co. K, 3rd Michigan Volunteer Infantry. He also served in Co. F, 5th Michigan Volunteer Infantry.

He resided 85 Stocking St., Grand Rapids, MI.
