Parley Whitney, parentage conjectured, was born 14 Feb 1819, NY, and died 1 Jun 1896, probably Dane Co., WI.[1]

He married circa 1846, location unknown, Louisa ------, parentage unknown. She was born circa 1809, MA, and died after 1910, location unknown, then living in Wheatland, Vernon Co., WI.

He was recorded in Freeman Township, Crawford Co., WI, in 1857, when he was elected a township supervisor.

On 20 Feb 1857 he purchased from the U.S. Government 40 acres of land, the SW 1/4 of the SE 1/4 of Section 19, Township 11N, Range 6W, Crawford Co., WI.

On 10 Mar 1857 he purchased from the U.S. Government 40 acres of land, the NE 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 19, Township 11N, Range 6W, Crawford Co., WI.

On 1 Feb 1858 he purchased from the U.S. Government 40 acres of land, the NW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 29, Township 11N, Range 6W, Crawford Co., WI.

On 1 Jul 1859 he purchased from the U.S. Government 40 acres of land, the NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 30, Township 11N, Range 6W, Crawford Co., WI.

On 1 Jun 1860 he purchased from the U.S. Government 40 acres of land, the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 30, Township 11N, Range 6W, Crawford Co., WI.

Private, Co. C, 18th Wisconsin Volunteers, Civil War. Enlisted in Company C, Wisconsin 18th Infantry Regiment on 19 Dec 1861. Mustered in 19 Jan 1863. Discharged 18 Jan 1865. Mustered out on 20 Jan 1863. Also in Cos. D & E, 1st Regiment, Mississippi Marine Brigade, U.S. Volunteer Infantry. Applied for a pension as an invalid 3 Aug 1885, Application No. 546,296.[2] Taken prisoner Newburgh, IN.

i. Milo M. Whitney, b. 3 Jan 1848, Walworth Co., WI; m. Almeda A. Coffin.
ii. Albert L. Whitney, b. 1850, Bloomfield, WI; d. after 1880.
iii. Ellen M. Whitney, b. Jan 1852, WI; d. 1929, probably WI.[3]
iv. Emma L. Whitney, b. circa 1854, WI; d. after 1870.

Notes

It seems likely he was son of Parley6 and Zeruiah (Gould) Whitney, conceived before and born after that man's death. If so, he would be the male 0-9 in the family of his widowed mother in 1820, and the male 10-14 in the family of his stepfather in 1830.

His whereabouts in 1840 are unknown.
