Peter⁶ Whitney (Jonas⁵, Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Jonas⁵ and Zebudah (Davis) Whitney, was born 17 Aug 1772, Harvard, MA,^[1] and died 10 Oct 1826, Gray, ME, aged 54 years (g.s.).

Intentions of marriage were published 15 Sep 1797, Southborough, MA, for him and Joanna Newhall "of Leominster".^[2] He "of Southborough" married, 3 Oct 1797, Leominster, MA, Joanna Newhall,^[3] daughter of Michael and Joanna (Collins) Newhall. She was born 7 Sep 1775, Bolton, MA, and died 2 May 1841, Gray, ME.

He was also known as Dr. Peter Whitney. According to Pierce, Peter "went to Maine".
