Family:Whitney, Philip (c1821-1897)

Philip7 Whitney (Alpheus7, Eleazer6, Nathan5, Thomas4, Eleazar3, Thomas2, John1), son of Alpheus7 and Sally (Stone) Whitney, was born about 1821, Halifax, MA, and died 15 Feb 1897, Leyden, MA, aged 80 years 1 months 10 days, of paralysis from apoplexy.[1]

He married, before 1847, Prudence M. Tanner, daughter of John and Hannah (Burrows) Tanner. She was born about 1826, Guilford, VT, and died 19 Aug 1884, Turners Falls, Montague, MA, aged 58 years, of Bright's disease.[2]

i. Edwin8 Whitney, b. ca. 1847, VT; not in family in 1860.
ii. William Whitney, b. ca. 1849, VT; not in family in 1880.
iii. Francis Eugene Whitney, b. ca. 1850, Guilford, VT; m. Eunice F. Cory.
iv. Christopher H. Whitney, b. ca. 1857, Guilford, VT; d. 9 Sep 1903, Leyden, MA, aged 50 years, of intemperance and apoplexy;[3] unmarried.
v. George Elmer Whitney, b. -- Jun 1859, Guilford, VT;[4] not in family in 1870.
vi. Martin E. Whitney, b. ca. 1862, Guilford VT; m. Marilla Eva Coburn.
vii. Phillip Leroy Whitney, b. ca. 1864, VT, or Colrain, MA; d. 15 Feb 1897, Leyden, MA, aged 32 years, of septicaemia;[5] bur. Colrain, MA; unmarried. He was an "incumbered invalid".
