Phinehas Sullivan7 Whitney (Phinehas6, William5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Phinehas6 and Lydia (Bowes) Whitney,[1] was born 6 Jul 1785, Shirley, MA,[2] and died 3 May 1855,[3] leaving 3 children.[4] He was buried in the Collard/Darrell family cemetery at 3212 Arundel Avenue, Alexandria, VA.

He married firstly, 28 Sep 1806, Boston, Suffolk Co., MA, Lucy (Cobb) Davis.[5] Pierce calls her Lucy Cobb.[6] She died sometime shortly before 3 Mar 1821, Boston, Suffolk Co., MA.[7] She married firstly, 21 Jan 1802, Boston, Nathaniel Davis.[8]

He married secondly, Julia Robinson.[9]

He married thirdly, 31 Dec 1836, Washington, DC,[10] Elizabeth S. Collard,[11] daughter of Samuel and Rachel (Brooke)(Darrell) Collard. She was born circa 1805, VA,[12] or circa 1800, and died 26 Dec 1872, Washington, DC, in her 73rd year. She married secondly George Collard, and moved to Washington, DC. She was buried in the Collard/Darrell family cemetery at 3212 Arundel Avenue, Alexandria, VA.

On 4 Oct 1807, "Mr. Phineas S. Whitney & Mrs. Lucy Whitney his wife" were listed as "removed to New York".[13]

He may have been the "Mr. Phineas S. Whitney" appointed assistant trustee, Ward No. 7, Boston Fuel Society.[14]

He was a coal dealer and resided in Philadelphia in 1850.[15]

Their tombstones in the Collard/Darrell Family Cemetery, Groveton, VA, read:

May 3rd. 1855.
in the 70th year of his age.
