Ralph Jay10 Whitney (William Henry9, Mark J.8, Jarvis7, Palmer6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of William Henry9 and Ellen K. (Shannon) Whitney, was born 16 Mar 1911, Fresno, CA, and died 15 Nov 1992, Fresno, CA.
He married 21 Nov 1937, Oakland, CA, Evelyn Ethel Peterson, daughter of Albin Daniel and Hazel Elvira (Bombard) Peterson. She born 6 Feb 1913, Chicago, IL, and died 21 May 2008, Santa Clara County, CA.
Albin Daniel Peterson was of Swedish descent, died at age 27 when Evelyn was 4 years of age, is buried in Chicago, IL. Hazel Peterson remarried - Claude Gorton, a WWI veteran from NY state. Claude died of lung cancer November 1963. Hazel died July 1967 from a stroke. Claude and Hazel Gorton are buried at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, CA.
Ralph born, raised, lived in Fresno, CA, his whole life. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, was a Freemason, volunteered at the YMCA. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII, stationed in Brisbane Australia. Wife Evelyn born Chicago, moved to SF Bay Area at age 4 where she went to school, married Ralph in Oakland. Evelyn served in U.S. Coast Guard WWII, stationed in Philadelphia PA. After Ralph's death in 1992 Evelyn remained in Fresno until moving to Santa Clara, CA in 1996 to be near her grown children and grandchildren.
Evelyn and Ralph Whitney buried at Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno, CA.
