Reuben6 Whitney (Abel5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Abel5 and Thankful (Morton) Whitney, was born 21 Jul 1771, Gorham, ME,[1] and died 13 Feb 1836, Litchfield, ME.

He married, 17 May 1798, Litchfield, ME, Mercy Baker,[2] daughter of Barnabas and Mehitable (Smith) Baker. She was born 8 Aug 1774, Pownalboro, ME, and died Mar 1840, East Pittston, ME.

He was a wheelwright by trade. He resided Litchfield, ME.

iii. Otis Whitney, b. 1 Dec 1802, Litchfield, ME.[5] He was a cooper and resided with his brother Levi in 1850. Allegedly d. 20 Aug 1824.
iv. Olice Whitney, b. 1 Dec 1802, Litchfield, ME.[6]
v. Reuben Whitney, b. 1 May 1804, Litchfield, ME;[7] m. Mary White.
vi. Gorham Whitney, b. 19 Jun 1806, Litchfield, ME;[8] m. Olive Pain.
vii. Sally H. Whitney, b. 10 Jul 1809, Litchfield, ME;[9][10] d. 1 Sep 1888, Boston, MA, aged 79 years 1 month 21 days, of paralysis;[11] m. 29 Nov 1829, Litchfield, ME, Nathaniel Decker,[12] b. 7 Apr 1806; d. 16 Oct 1848. He was a cooper.
