Richard Dexter8 Whitney (Jesse7, Jacob6, Abraham5, Abraham4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Jesse7 and Rebecca (Newell) Whitney, was born 26 Oct 1836, Nashua, NH, and died after 1900.
He married firstly, 24 Nov 1858 [Pierce] or 25 Nov 1858, Nashua, NH, Laura A. Ingraham [Pierce] or Laura A. Ingram,[1] daughter of Roswell and Laura (Pratt) Ingraham. She was born 17 May 1838, Williamsville, VT, and died 24 Sep 1895, Boston, MA, aged 56 years 4 months 9 days, of sarcoma (liver, kidney, tonsil).[2]
He married secondly, 26 Nov 1902, Everett, MA, Ella M. (Boodry)(Nourse) Rice, daughter of Leonard and Hanna M. (Emery) Boodry.[3] She was born about 1848, Ashburnham, MA. She had married firstly, 3 Nov 1866, Hudson, MA, Albert H. Nourse. She had married secondly, 27 Sep 1878, Hudson, MA, John F. Rice.
Richard Dexter Whitney is a native of Nashua, NH. He received his education in the public schools there; learned the machinist business under the superintendence of his brother, George M. On the breaking out of the rebellion he went into the employ of the government at the armory in Springfield, MA, to manufacture guns for the army, remaining there some two years. Afterward was in the employ of the Hayden Manufacturing Company, and later in the optical works at Springfield. At the present time is superintendent of the Walworth Manufacturing Company, Boston, MA. Mr. Whitney is a very energetic and persevering man, and very popular with his associates and never lets the grass grows very much under his feet; resided 763 E. Broadway, South Boston, MA.

Springfield, MA. iii. Frank Rathburn Whitney, b. 13 Jun 1868, Springfield, MA;[6] d. 28 Jan 1902, Boston, MA, aged 33 years 7 months 15 days, of pulmonary phthisis and meningitis;[7] bur. Springfield, MA; resided 768 E. Broadway, South Boston, MA.
