Roswell Orvis8 Whitney (Calvin7, Daniel6, James5, [prob.] James4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1), son of Calvin7and Roxana (Wheelock) Whitney, was born 29 Aug 1838, Plymouth, VT, and died after 1920.

He married firstly, 11 Aug 1859, New Bedford or Taunton, MA, Phoebe B. Reynolds, daughter of Alden and Jane (-----) Reynolds.[1] She was born 1839, Westport, MA, and died 1878.

He married secondly, 11 Apr 1883, Providence, RI, Ruth Frances Buker, daughter of Dr. David Perry and Frances L. (Wilkinson) Buker.[2] She was born Sep 1846, RI, and died 28 Oct 1935, Providence, RI, aged 89 years.[3]

He is a mason by trade, but of late years has been in the real estate business; resided Providence, RI.
