Samuel4 Whitney (John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of John3 and Letty (Ford) Whitney,[1] was born 5 May 1707, York, ME,[2], died after 1789 at Maugerville, NB, Canada.

Marriage banns for he and Lydia Spooner were published 23 Aug 1731 at Kittery, ME[3].

He was Deacon of the "Old Congregational Church." He and Lydia Spooner lived in 1739 at New Meadows, ME; settled there. He and Samuel Whitney were Samuel Whitney of brunswick and his son Samuel were captured by the Indians and taken prisoner to Canada, and sold for 126 livres; he had a wife and eight children [besides Samuel, Jr.?]; subsequently he made his escape on 24 Jul 1751 at Brunswick, ME. He grantee of land in 1761 at Maugerville, NB, Canada.

Lydia Spooner was born say 1710; guess by RLW. She was born circa 1720 at of Kittery, ME. She died after 1751 at Brunswick, ME. She died after 1789 at Maugerville, NB, Canada. She was also known as Lydia.

iv. Susanna, b. 25 Jul 1738 at Brunswick, ME, d. after 1751, m. Nathaniel Whitney, son of Nathaniel Whitney and Hannah Day, 15 Sep 1757; Marriage banns for she and Nathaniel Whitney were published 27 Sep 1757 at Falmouth, ME; husband "of Gorham", wife "of brunswick;"
v. Elder John, b. circa 1740; calculated from age at death, d. before 7 Dec 1820 at Thorndike, ME, "Elder", aged 80 years.
vi. Lettis, b. 27 Jun 1742 at Brunswick, ME, d. after 1751.
vii. (--?--), b. say 1744; d. after 1751.
vii. Ebenezer, b. say 1746; m. Huldah Mooers.
XXX. (--?--), b. say 1748, d. after 1751.
He and Josiah Whitney may be the same person.
