Family:Whitney, Samuel (1809-1884)
Samuel7 Whitney (Jared6, Samuel5, John4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Jared6 and Polly (White) Whitney, was born 31 Jul 1809, Presque Isle (now Erie), PA, and died 1884. He was buried in Deansboro Cemetery, Deansboro, NY.[1]
He married firstly, 26 Jan 1832, Marshall, NY, Charlotte Mills, daughter of Andrew and Nancy (Muir) Mills. She was born 24 Jan 1814, Paris (now Marshall), NY, and died 23 Jun 1859, Kirkland, NY,[2] where she was buried in the Whitney Cemetery, on the homestead of his father and grandfather.
He married secondly, 26 Sep 1860, Westmoreland, NY, Nancy Mills, daughter of Andrew and Nancy (Muir) Mills, and sister of his first wife. She was born 23 Sep 1812, Paris (now Marshall), NY, and died after 1880.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a farmer . . . . They settled in Kirkland, N.Y., . . . . They lived in Kirkland, near Deansville post-office, in 1874."
Children of Samuel7 and Charlotte (Mills) Whitney, all born Kirkland, NY:
i. Jared Whitney, b. 13 Aug 1833; d. Jun 1877; m. 27 Sep 1854, Augusta, NY, Mary Elizabeth Miller, daughter of Morris Samuel and Lucinda (Wood) Miller, b. 2 May 1837, Augusta, NY; a farmer. They lived in Augusta for six years; and then moved to Kirkland, near Deansville post-office, where they dwelt in 1874. ii. Mary Whitney, b. 6 Aug 1835; d. 9 Oct 1835, Kirkland, NY, and was buried in the Whitney Cemetery. iii. Nancy Ann Whitney, b. 25 Sep 1837; a milliner; lived in Rochester, NY, in 1874, and in Marshall, NY, 1880, unmarried.
Samuel7 and Nancy (Mills) Whitney had no children.
