Samuel Edmond7 Whitney (Jason6, Isaac5, Jason4, Mark3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jason6 and Adaline (Revere) Whitney, was born about 1835, TN.

He married, Sarah Holloway, born circa 1849, TN, died after 1870 and probably before 1880.

He was a farmer. Samuel joined the Confederate States Army at Pine Creek, 29 Jun 1861. He and his brother Jason were in the 34th Texas Cavalry, and fought in the Indian Territory, Arkansas, Missouri, and Louisiana. While in Louisiana, Samuel was wounded, captured, and sent to Elmira, NY.
