Silas Jeremiah7 Whitney (Joseph Lee6, Jeremiah5, Jeremiah4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Joseph Lee6 and Phebe (Mead) Whitney, was born 12 Feb 1812, Dutchess (now Putnam) Co., NY, and died 10 Sep 1890, NY. He was buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Springville, NY.[1]
He married, 29 May 1837, Pulteney, NY, Issabinda Bootes, daughter of Joseph and Anna (Berger) Bootes. She was born 28 May 1819, Lodi, NY, and died 24 Jan 1901, Yorkshire, NY. She was buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Springville, NY.[2]
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a farmer . . . . He dwelt in Pultney for about five years; in Sardinia, N.Y., about two years; and then settled in Yorkshire, N.Y., where they were living in May 1875."

Martha Loraine Whitney, b. 24 Sep 1843, Yorkshire, NY; teacher; was living at West Yorkshire in 1910, unmarried; d. 14 Jul 1914 [3]; bur. Maplewood Cemetery, Springville, NY.[4] iv. Marion Eugene Whitney, b. 21 Sep 1845, Yorkshire, NY; m. Susan Emma Hammond. v. Frank Silas Whitney, b. 12 Dec 1857, Yorkshire, NY; m. Mary L. Needham.
Notes
The given name Isabinda was invented by the English actress and playwright Susanna Centlivre for a character in her 1708 play "The Busie Body". In the play Isabinda is a woman who goes against her Spanish father to marry an Englishman, Charles, instead of the Spanish merchant her father has in mind for her. Isabinda was most likely an attempt to make a Spanish version of Isabella that would appear believable to 18th century audiences.
