Dr. Simon7 Whitney (Nathaniel Ruggles6, Simon5, Daniel4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Nathaniel Ruggles6 and Abigail (Fotheringham) Whitney, was born 30 Oct 1797, Watertown, MA,[1] or 30 Oct 1798,[2] was baptized 5 Nov 1797, Watertown, MA,[3] and died 2 Sep 1861, Framingham, MA, aged 62 years 10 months, of stragulated hernia.[4]

Marriage intentions were published 4 Apr 1824, Charlestown, MA, for him "M.D. of Framingham" and "Miss" Mary Walker "of Charlestown".[5] Marriage intentions were published 1 Apr 1824, Framingham, MA, for him "Dr." and Mary Walker "of Charlestown".[6] He married, 6 May 1824, Mary Walker, daughter of Timothy and Abigail (Johnson) Walker. She was born 25 Aug 1802,[7] Charlestown, MA, was baptized 27 Aug 1802, Charlestown, MA, and died 3 Mar 1872, Framingham, MA, aged 69 years.[8]

Dr. Simon Whitney was born in Watertown. In early life he was a teacher, having recieved his preparatory education in Newton and Brighton. He entered Harvard College, and graduated in 1818. Later he taught school in Charlestown, and, having studied medicine, he settled in Framingham, where he ever after resided. He was representative in the state legislature in 1853. He resided Framingham, MA.

iv. Abby Walker Whitney, b. 23 Jul 1829, Framingham, MA;[12] m. 3 Jun 1859, Framingham, MA, Coleman S. Adams, b. ca. 1824, Hebron, NH, son of Joseph and Hannah (-----) Adams.[13]
v. Henry Augustus Whitney, b. 11 Jan 1831, Framingham, MA;[14] drowned 22 Jul 1840, Framingham, MA, aged 8 years.[15]
vi. Harriett Lincoln Whitney, b. 3 Oct 1833, Framingham, MA;[16] d. 2 Sep 1863, Framingham, MA, aged 29 years 11 months, of peritonitis.[17]
