Stephen7 Whitney (Henry6, Stephen5, Henry4, Josiah3, John2, Henry1), son of Henry6 and Hannah Eugenia (Lawrence) Whitney, was born 20 Oct 1841, Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT, and died after 1900.

He married firstly, 27 Apr 1864, New York, NY, Margaret Lawrence Johnson, daughter of Bradish and Louisa Anna (Lawrence) Johnson. She was born 1 Jun 1841, New York, NY, and died after 1880.

He married secondly, about 1886, Louisa Johnson. She was born Jun 1846, LA, and died after 1900. Possibly she was Louisa Johnson, sister of his first wife.

Phoenix says the following:

". . . was 1st lieut., 4th U. S. Artillery, from 5 Aug. 1861 to 12 Nov. 1863 . . . . He resided on the homestead, Whitney Ave., New Haven, in 1877, spending the Winter months on Woodlawn plantation, Parish of Plaquemine, La."

iv. Samuel Lawrence Whitney, b. 21 Oct 1874.
