Stephen M. Whitney (Caleb, Caleb), son of Caleb and Hannah (Davis) Whitney, was born about 1833, Springfield or Chester, VT, and died 9 Apr 1864, Lowell, MA, aged 31 years, of consumption.[1]
He married, 8 Dec 1856, Lowell, MA, Ellen Riley, daughter of Michael and Dorcas (Ballard) Riley.[2] She was born about 1837, Boston, MA, and died 31 Jan 1870, Lowell, MA, aged 32 years.[3] In her marriage record, she is called "Elizabeth", daughter of John and Susan (-----) Riley, but all other records disagree with this.
