Sylvester Henry⁸ Whitney (Henry⁷, Timothy⁶, Thomas⁵, Thomas⁴, Eleazer³, Thomas², John¹), son of Henry⁷ and Sarah (Twitchell) Whitney, was born 23 Jul 1830, Walpole, NH, and died 27 Jan 1907, Harrisonville, MO.

He married, 13 Mar 1859, Sarah E. Downs. She was born 22 Mar 1837, IL, and died 23 Jul 1919.

He resided Urbana, Benton Co., IA, and Harrisonville, MO.

Several of the family are buried in Oakland Cemetery, Harrisonville, MO.
