Theodore7 Whitney (Joel6, Jonas5, David4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Joel6 and Abigail (Holden)(Merriam) Whitney, was born 2 Apr 1807, Westminster, MA,[1] and died 19 Oct 1894, Brattleboro, VT [recorded at Westminster, MA], aged 87 years, of heart disease.[2]

He married, 4 Nov 1835, Westminster, MA, Betsey Wheeler,[3] daughter of Josiah and Betsey (Puffer) Wheeler. She was born 4 Jan 1814,[4] and died 31 Mar 1884, Westminster, MA, aged 70 years 2 months 27 days, of scrofulous disease of bones.[5]

Theodore Whitney, married Betsey, daughter of Josiah and Betsey (Puffer) Wheeler, and settled on a small place near his childhood home, but later in life, purchased the Luke Bigelow estate half a mile north of the village, where he resided till after the decease of his wife. A misfortune in his early manhood made him more or less a cripple for life. He has been a worthy, respected citizen of the town, having held the office of assessor some fifteen years. For some time past he has resided with surviving daughter at Brattleboro, VT; resided Brattleboro, VT, 49 Green st.

Heywood says the following:[6]

"Whitney, Theodore7, youngest bro. of the last two, m. Betsey (46), dau. of Josiah and Betsey (Puffer) Wheeler, Nov. 4, 1835, and set. on a small place near his childhood home, but later in life purchased the Luke Bigelow estate half a mile north of the village, where he res. till after the decease of his wife, which occurred March 31, 1884. A misfortune in his early manhood made him more or less a cripple for life. He has been a worthy, respected citizen of the town, having held the office of Assessor some 15 years. For some time past he has res. with his surviving dau., at Brattleboro', Vt."
