Family:Whitney, Thomas (1824-1852)

Thomas⁷ Whitney (Thomas⁶, Benjamin⁵, Joseph⁴, Joseph³, Jonathan², John¹), son of Thomas⁶ and Betsey (Wallis) Whitney, was born 20 Feb 1824, and died 8 Jan 1852. He was buried in West Branch Cemetery, Stowe, VT.^[1]

He married, before 1850, Susan Miranda Drake, daughter of Stephen and Eunice (Mosher) Drake. She was born 12 Nov 1827, Pomfret, VT, and died 1909. She was buried in West Branch Cemetery, Stowe, VT. She married secondly, 27 Jul 1853, Craftsbury, VT, Henry Hoyt Colburn, both of Wolcott,^[2] son of David and Rebecca (Rust) Colburn. He was born 2 Nov 1826, Hartford, VT, and died Apr 1865. He was buried in West Branch Cemetery, Stowe, VT.

Children of Thomas⁷ and Susan Miranda (Drake) Whitney:

i.	Ellen A.8 Whitney, b. 27 Apr 1851, Wolcott, VT (but see notes below); listed with surname Colburn in 1860 census, but surname Whitney in 1870 and 1880.
ii.	Edgar Francis Bennet Whitney, b. ca. 1854, Wolcott, VT; listed as Edgar A. Colburn in 1860 census. Not found in 1870 or 1880 censuses.

Notes

According to Pierce, a son, Willis, resided North Tunbridge. This seems to be a confusion with Willis, son of Thomas's brother John.

There was an Ellen Elizabeth Whitney, b. 27 Apr 1851, Wolcott, VT, daughter of Don Alonzo and Adaline (Bailey) Whitney, according to the L.D.S. International Genealogical Index. This may be a big coincidence, or not. Probably this is an error in the IGI.
