Thomas Whitney of Middlewood (James, Eustace, John, [perhaps] Robert, Eustace, Robert, Robert, Robert, Eustace, Eustace, Robert, ...), son of James and Sybil (Parry) Whitney, was born before 1542, Clifford, Herefordshire, and died between 12 Oct 1609, and 28 Apr 1610, Middlewood, Clifford, Herefordshire.
He married, first, Elinor (Thomas), daughter of David Thomas. She died after her father's will was written 27 Feb 1603 and before her husband's will was written 12 Oct 1609.
He married, second, Margaret (-----) Parry. She had married firstly, ----- Parry, probably John Parry, son of John Parry of Dulas. She died after 28 Apr 1610, when she was named executor of her husband's will.
His original will survives, as well as a copy recorded in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, where it was proved. It was dated 12 Oct 1609 and proved 28 Apr 1610; to be buried in the parishe Churche of Lanvayre y Brynne; mentions his wife Margaret; eldest son Robert Whitney; second son Baldwyn Whitney; daughters Mary and Elizabeth Whitney; two of his wife's daughters Margaret and Oliffe Parry; father-in-law David Thomas; brother-in-law Leyson Thomas; brother-in-law Paule Delahay; and Margery the daughter of Alice Griffithes; messuages, lands, and tenements in Middlewood; tenants William Miles, Evan Owens, Watkin Lewes, John Nicholas and Harry Prees; the manors of Newton and Foxbrooke; the farm of Castleton; mortgage to John Smith. Executors, wife Margaret and son Baldwyn Whitney. Overseers, Paule Delahay, Esq., and Miles Parry, gent. Witnesses Gabriell Walwyn, Charles Parry, John Walwyn, Leonard Walwyn.
Probably Margaret's first husband was John Parry, as John's daughters Margery, Olive, and Elizabeth are mentioned in the will of John's brother Miles Parry, 1615.
