Capt. Walter7 Whitney (Jonas6, Jonathan5, Jonathan4, Jonathan3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jonas6 and Catherine (Parker) Whitney, was born 27 Jan 1797, NY, and died 7 Feb 1866, Hopewell, NY.

He married, before 1840, Arminda Cloyes. She was ca. 12 Oct 1805, VT, and died 20 Aug 1899, Shortsville, NY.

Both are buried in the Chapman Cemetery, Hopewell, NY.

Her death notice: "At Shortsville, Aug. 20, Mrs. Arminda Cloyes Whitney, widow of Captain Walter Whitney, formerly of Hopewell, aged 93 years, 10 months, 8 days."[1]

ii. Clarissa A. Whitney or Clara A. Whitney, b. ca. 1842, NY; d. after 1860.

iv. Ann Ophelia Whitney, b. ca. 11 Oct 1848, NY; d. 27 Mar 1853, aged 4 years 5 months 16 days.
