Washington W.8 Whitney (Joshua7, Joshua6, Joshua5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Joshua7 and Almira (?Fuller?) Whitney, was born 18 Nov 1827, Eagle, Allegany Co. (now Wyoming Co.), NY, and died 1899. He was buried in Eagle Village Cemetery, Eagle, NY.[1]

He married, 2 Nov 1852, Susan A. Clement, daughter of Sewell Clement. She was born about 1833, and died 14 Apr 1916. She was buried in Eagle Village Cemetery, Eagle, NY.[2]

Washington W. Whitney was born in Eagle, Wyoming Co., NY Nov. 18th, 1827. Nov. 2nd, 1852 he married Miss. SUSAN CLEMENT, daughter of Sewell Clement, from Vermont, who located in Eagle, NY in 1837, and died there. Joshua Whitney, a Revolutionary soldier and a native of Massachusetts, grandfather of Washington W. Whitney, and Joshua Whitney, Jr., a native of New Hampshire, son of Joshua Whitney, and father of Washington W. Whitney, located in this section in 1812. In 1834 Joshua Whitney, Jr. moved on to the farm where Washington W. Whitney now lives, and died there in 1869. He was a man of prominence in town affairs, and served as assessor and overseer of the poor. Washington W. Whitney enlisted in Company B of the 2nd N.Y. mounted rifles Jan. 4th, 1964, and after participating in fourteen engagements, including the battles of Spottsylvania, the Wilderness and Cold Harbor (where he was wounded), was discharged in June, 1865.[3]
