William8 Whitney (John7, Phinehas6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of John7 and Sarah (Chapman) Whitney, was born 13 May 1823, Waterford, OH, and died 1900, Clover Township, Henry County, IL.

He married, 15 Feb 1844, Morgan County, OH, Jane Cheffey. She was born 18 Jun 1821, Virginia, and died 28 Aug 1885, Clover Township, Henry County, IL.

Both are buried in the Clover Chapel Cemetery, Clover Township, Henry County, IL.

From the History of Henry County, Illinois (1910), p. 205:
