William Whitney (Thomas J., Thomas J., Aaron, Joseph), son of Thomas J. and Martha (-----) Whitney, was born 3 Jan 1871, Salem, NE, and died 7 Dec 1935, Blaine Co., OK. He was buried in Alfalfa Cemetery, Alfalfa, OK.[1]

He married, Dorthula Paxton, daughter of H. B. and Mary (-----) Paxton. She was born 19 Nov 1888, Almon, MO, and died 7 Aug 1964, Carnegie, OK. She was buried in Alfalfa Cemetery, Alfalfa, OK.[2]

"Rites Held Tuesday For Alfalfa Farmer
"Wm. Whitney, one of the original settlers in the community southwest of Alfalfa in 1901, died at his home Saturday night. He was 64 years, 11 months and 5 days old, being born at Salem, Nebr. January 2, 1871. Funeral services were held at Alfalfa Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the Alfalfa cemetery.
"He is survived by three brothers, L.L. Whitney, Salem, Nebr.; W.H. Whitney, Humbold, Nebr., and J.T. Whitney, Stella, Nebr.; and a sister, Mrs. Edyth Cline, Goodland, Kans., all of whom with Mr. Cline were here for the funeral."

Her obituary: ":Funeral services for Dorthula (Dorrie) Whitney were held Monday morning at the Pitcher Funeral Home. Burial was in the Alfalfa Cemetery. Mrs. Whitney was born on November 19, 1888 at Almon Missouri and died Friday at her in in Carnegie.

":Her parents, H.B, and Mary Paxton and twin sister and four brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by one brother Edwin Paxton of the home, a niece, Mrs. Pearl Wilson of Wheatland Mo and two nieces in California.

":The Paxton Family come to Oklahoma in February 1909 and made their home in the Alfalfa community until a year ago when they moved to Carnegie.
