William6 Whitney (Stephen5, Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Stephen5 Whitney and Martha (Irish) Whitney, was born about 1795, Otisfield, ME, was baptized 4 Mar 1800, Buxton, ME,[1] died 3 Sep 1845, Raymond, ME, aged 49 years,[2] and was buried in the Webb's Mills Cemetery, Casco, ME.

He married, date and place unknown, Mary Ann Mayberry, daughter of Richard and Mary (Jordan) Mayberry. She was born 11 Mar 1808, Raymond, ME. She married secondly, Oct 1848, ME, Orasmus Symonds, son of Samuel J. and Elsie C. (Small) Symonds. He was born 5 Nov 1820, Raymond, ME. She died 25 Mar 1890, and is buried in the Webb's Mills Cemetery, Casco, ME.

iii. Martha L. Whitney, b. 20 Oct 1828, Raymond, ME.[3] It is alleged that she m. 10 Feb 1848, New Gloucester, ME, Otis C. Nelson. She was listed as Martha Whitney with the family in 1850. That makes it likely that it was a different Martha Whitney who married Otis Nelson. Instead, she may have been the "Miss" Martha J. Whitney "of Casco" who m. 20 Sep 1850, Biddeford, ME, "Mr." Albert H. Gilman.[4]
iv. Francis M. Whitney, b. Jun 1830, Casco, ME; m. Hannah Crocker Barnett.
v. Nancy Whitney, b. ca. 1833, ME; d. after 1850; no further record.
vi. Nathaniel Jordan Whitney, b. 20 Sep 1834, Biddeford, ME; male 5-9 in 1840 census; d. 27 Jun 1899, Vallejo, CA; m. 9 Jun 1862, San Francisco, CA, Mary Regina Tyrrell (1838–1911); res. 1418 G St., Sacramento, CA, on 12 May 1888.
