He married, 14 Sep 1847, Adrian, MI, Ellen Maria Bixby, daughter of David and Laura (Foster) Bixby. She was born 6 Apr 1825, Albion, NY, and died after 1880.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a publisher . . . . They settled in Adrian, where her parents resided at the time of her marriage, and were living there in June 1877. He has published The Press, a daily and weekly newspaper, since 17 May 1873; was registrar of deeds in Lenawee Co., Mich., for four years from 1 Jan. 1863, and recorder of the city of Adrian, for two years from Ap. 1859; and filled the office of postmaster at Adrian from 17 May 1869 to 17 May 1873."
