William Blake⁸ Whitney (Joseph⁷, Jonas⁶, Jonas⁵, David⁴, Benjamin³, John², John¹), son of Joseph⁷ and Sally (Harrington) Whitney, was born 23 Aug 1841,^[1] Westminster, MA,^[2] and died 30 Sep 1891, Montreal, QC [recorded Leominster, MA, aged 50 years 1 month 7 days, of acute enteritis.^[3]

He married, 15 Sep 1863, Leominster, MA, Julia Pauline Tilton, daughter of William and Mary E. (Barber) Tilton.^[4] She was born 17 Oct 1842,^[5] Ludlow, VT, and died 17 Sep 1902, Leominster, MA, aged 59 years 11 months 0 days, of apoplexy.^[6] She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster, MA.

He resided Leominster, MA.

Heywood says the following:^[7]

"Francis A. Whitney⁸ (170), upon starting out in life, located in Leominster, where he has been actively engaged in the manufacture of children's carriages and other industrial enterprises. He is a man of high standing in the business world and has contributed largely to the prosperity of his adopted town. His bro., Wm. B., a man of genuine worth, was for some years associated with him in the carriage trade."
