William H.8 Whitney (William7, William6, Abner5, John4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of William7 and Anna (Hancock) Whitney, was born 3 Apr 1822, Standish, ME, and died 12 Dec 1912, Rangeley, ME, or possibly before 1880 (see Notes below).

He married, 21 Aug 1849, Hannah Douglass. She was born 26 Sep 1827, Sebago, ME, and died 12 Dec 1912, Gorham, ME, aged 85 years 2 months 16 days. She is buried in Sebago, ME.

Her gravestone reads: HANNAH D WHITNEY | Wife of | William Whitney | Sept 21, 1827 | Dec 12, 1912.

Children of William H.8 and Hannah (Douglass) Whitney:

i. Perley9 Whitney, b. ca. Sep 1849; d. 1 Oct 1851, Sebago, ME.
ii. Mary A. Whitney, b. ca. 22 Dec 1850, ME; d. 7 Aug 1905, Limerick, ME, aged 54 years 7 months 15 days; m. 18 May 1875, Boston, MA, Simeon Cummings Dike, b. ca. 1850, Sebago, ME, son of Kimball A. and Asenath C. (-----) Dike.[1]
ii. Marion Whitney, b. ca. 1855, Sebago, ME; d. 24 Sep 1855, Sebago, ME.

Notes

Since the death dates of William and Hannah are identical, it would appear that the former is in error. Since she is listed as a widow in 1880, it seems that William must have died before then.
