William H.8 Whitney (James Jefferson7, James6, Richard5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of James Jefferson7 and Emma Bethiah (Follett) Whitney, was born 17 Jul 1844, Fitchburg, MA,[1], and died 28 Dec 1913, Leominster, MA, aged 71 years 5 months 11 days, of cirrhosis of the liver.[2]

He married firstly, before 1870, Lizzie Edna Follansbee, daughter of John and Hannah H. (-----) Follansbee. She was born about 7 Dec 1849, Providence, RI, and died 14 Aug 1880, Fitchburg, MA, aged 30 years 8 months 7 days, of epilepsy.[3]

He married secondly, 2 Feb 1882, Fitchburg, MA, Henrietta E. Heald, daughter of William H. and Elizabeth C. (Manning) Heald. She was born 31 Dec 1861, Templeton, MA, and died after 1913.

ii. Edna Bertha Whitney, b. 9 Mar 1872, Fitchburg, MA;[6] m. 6 Oct 1891, Fitchburg, MA, Arthur W. White, b. ca. 1872, Needham, MA, son of Robert H. and Evelyn A. (Granger) White.[7]

iii. Eva Elizabeth9 Whitney, b. 11 Sep 1885, Fitchburg, MA;[8] m. 10 Apr 1907, Leominster, MA [also recorded at Worcester, MA], Perley Horace Woodbury Wiggin, b. ca. 1884, Clinton, MA, son of Levi H. and Annie M. (Paine/Jewett) Wiggin.[9]
iv. Carl Herbert Whitney, b. 22 Sep 1889, Fitchburg, MA;[10] d. aft. 1910.
