Rev. William Wallace9 Whitney (Noah8, David7, Silas6, David5, Benjamin4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Noah8 and Mercy (French) Whitney, was born 28 Mar 1833, Westminster, VT, and died 24 May 1910, Cuddebackville, NY.[1] He was buried in Gansevoort Cemetery, Gansevoort, NY.[2]

He married, 13 Feb 1855, Franklin or Sheldon, VT, Harriett Rebecca9 Whitney,[3] daughter of Nathan8 and Abigail8 (Whitney) Whitney. She was born 6 May 1834, and died 2 Jan 1903. She was buried in Gansevoort Cemetery, Gansevoort, NY.[4]

He was born in the west parish of Westminster, VT. At the age of four years his parents moved to Hinsdale, NH. He attended district school in the winters and worked on the farm summers until he was eighteen years of age, when his father then gave him permission to leave home and care for himself. He then went to Boston, MA, and worked a year for $20 a month and board, after which he went to the high school in Saxton River two terms, then worked in a chair shop in the town of Phillipston, MA, for a while; made good wages for those times; went to Amherst college, MA; returning to Gardner and worked in the chair shop again. He married and continued to work at his trade until 1863, when he was licensed to Preach the gospel in the M. E. church, New England conference. His first appointment was Locks Village, Franklin County, MA. He preached there two years, then removed to the Troy conference and was stationed at East Dorset, VT; later at Bloomingdale, Essex County, NY, Shushan, NY, Granville, NY, Troy City, Petersburg, West Lebanon, NY, Sand Lake, Stoney Creek, Glenville, Cornith, NY; there, on account of his health, he resigned and withdrew from the conference work; went south, spending a year in traveling; went back to Troy City, NY, and soon received a call from the Reformed (Dutch) Church of America to become pastor of a church in Ephratah, which he did, and was received into the Classis of Montgomery, Particular Synod of Albany, serving that church for a little over four years. He then received and accepted a call from the Livingston Reformed church at Linlithgo, Columbia County, NY, where he now resides. He has been there four years. Received his degree in 1869 from the Syracuse university of doctor of divinity. Has been preaching for thirty years; resided Linlithgo, NY.

iii. Abbie M. Whitney, b. 13 Oct 1861, Hinsdale, NH; d. 23 Aug 1880, Sand Lake, NY; bur. Gansevoort Cemetery, Gansevoort, NY;[8] unmarried.
