I don't have any answers at the moment, but a thought did occur to me about Sarah Whitney and Frederick M. Pierce. This marriage takes place only 16 years before Frederick Clifton Pierce (I think I have that right) published the Whitney Genealogy in 1895 that Jon has and that has been a basic source for so many of us for so long. Could the author be the father of F. M. Pierce, and the interest in the Whitneys stem from his son's marriage??? Jon, is there anything in the book about Pierces as they relate to Whitneys?
