Although there is little to go on, I have no doubt that I have matched
the proper soldier here:

William or William Whitny, CT Line, S35720, he appl 2 Apr
1818 at Derby in New Haven Co CT, in 1820 sol was aged 59 &amp;
was supported by his friends, no family was referred to, sol
d 26 Nov 1838

He was William-5 Whitney (Henry-4, Josiah-3, John-2, Henry-1) son of
Henry and Eunice (CLARK) Whitney b. 11 Apr 1762 Derby, Connecticut; d.
26 Oct 1838 Derby; m. Mary THOMPSON in Derby.  They had 10 children.

Phoenix thought he died 26 Oct instead of 26 Nov 1838 as shown in the
above.
