Reinforcing that is the birth record: Charles Franklin Whitney, son of Phinias and Maria E., born 18 Sep 1868, Portland, Cumberland Co., Maine I also found the following birth records in Chelsea, MA: 1871, Apr 18, Eva M. Whitney }(twins) f b. Chelsea, dau. of Phineas and Maria, Moulder, 1871, Apr 18, Lillian M. Whitney } f parents born Portland and Gorham, Maine 1873, Mar 14, Sarah Whitney f b. Chelsea, dau. of Phineas and Maria E., Moulder, parents both born Portland, Maine 1877, May 14, Phineas Whitney m b. Chelsea, son of Phineas and Maria E., Stovemounter, father born Maine Apparently Lillian M. Whitney must have died before 1880, but I didn't find her death record. I didn't find a marriage of Phineas Whitney to Maria E. (?Wescott?). I did find what seems to be his birth record: Phineas Whitney, son of Phineas and Hannah, born 17 May 1844, Portland, Cumberland Co., Maine Then I found the marriage record of these parents: Phineas Whitney and Hannah B. Lowell, m. 20 Oct 1831, Bangor, Penobscot Co., Maine I think it's likely that this groom was Phineas-7 Whitney, born 27 Jul 1803, Standish, Cumberland, Maine, son of Levi-6 and Happy (Higgins) Whitney [Abel-5, Nathan-4, Nathaniel-3, Benjamin-2, John-1]. Of that theory I have no proof. Perhaps with these clues, you (or someone else on this list) will be able to obtain it. I also found the death record of Maria E. 16 Feb 1880 1880, Feb 16, Maria E. Whitney f mar aged 36-5- of pneumonia, at Chelsea, born Gorham, Maine, wife of Phineas Unfortunately this does not reveal her maiden name, presumably Westcott.
