From: ALLAGREEN -at- aol.com Subject: Re: [WHITNEY] Next Question! Date: Sat, 9 Feb 2008 15:53:26 EST Dear Janice: I think there is some possibility of a confusion here. Col. Moses Whitney (of Douglas, Worcester, MA), on 31 Dec 1780, in Boxford, Essex, MA, married as his first wife, a Hannah Palmer, b. 28 Feb 1757 in Rowley, Essex. MA, d.o. John and Mary (Crissey) Palmer. She bore him five children, Benjamin, b. 22 Nov 1781, and Timothy Palmer Whitney, b. 4 Jan 1785, both in Douglas, Worcester, MA; and Anna Wyett Whitney, b. 18 Apr 1787, John Andrews Whitney, b. 10 Jan 1789, and Samuel B. Whitney, b. 18 Dec 1791, all three in Uxbridge, Worcester, MA. Hannah Palmer then died 30 May 1793 in Uxbridge, in her 37th year. Col. Moses Whitney then married secondly Nancy (Mann) Tyler, on 3 Apr 1796 in Uxbridge, Worcester, MA, and she bore him eight more children. My thought is that the Frank and Josiah Palmer, who wrote the Genealogical History...etc., saw a wife named Nancy married to Moses, and mistook her for the Nancy Palmer shown on p, 33 if their book. He also moved by 1790 to Wrentham, as on 25 May 1790 he was appointed guardian of Polly Wells Tyler, a child of his wife by her first husband. I would call your attention to the page on the WRG site that I have been looking at: _<a href="http://wiki.whitneygen.org/wrg/index.php/Family:Whitney%2C_Moses_%281757-1826">http://wiki.whitneygen.org/wrg/index.php/Family:Whitney%2C_Moses_%281757-1826</a> %29_ (<a href="http://wiki.whitneygen.org/wrg/index.php/Family:Whitney,_Moses_(1757-1826">http://wiki.whitneygen.org/wrg/index.php/Family:Whitney,_Moses_(1757-1826</a>)) The spaces before and after Moses are actually underlines. Let me know what you think of my theory. Allan ****************************************************************************** ********** In a message dated 2/9/2008 12:33:38 P.M.
