My earliest Whitney is Anna Whitney, born abt 1780, married to Warren Percival. Her parents are not yet determined (possibly Elijah and Chloe (Beckley) Whitney of Canaan, CT.

Update 12/9/2011: Anna Whitney's parents have been found! They are Joshua and Dorothy (Knowlton) of Belchertown, MA. The key to this breakthrough was an obscure probate record for Joseph Whitney (guardianship) in Norwich, VT. Joseph was Anna's youngest brother.

My lineage is through Anna and Warren's daughter, Caroline Percival who married Sylvanus Woodworth. Their daughter, Electa married my GG grandfather, Grandison Wood.
