Charles Mayo Whitney Page

Curt,

You can check *every* previous version of any page by clicking on the "history" tab at the top of it. There isn't a version of Charles Mayo Whitney's page with pictures, nor with a link to Google Books. I am afraid your memory is faulty in this case.

The fact that one source is listed twice or more in the references means that it serves as a source for two or more of the facts in the body of the page. Click on the ^ link to see which fact.

As far as the links from the census entries on the Family: page to the Archive: census pages, they point as nearly as possible to the same family, which usually appears at the top of the window which opens up. The exception is when the family is on the Archive: page near the bottom, so the browser cannot move far enough down to put the family at the top of the page. In any case, it is always somewhere within the viewing window.

As far as I can determine, the only robot which acted on the page is the WRG renaming robot, which changes names of pages due to alterations in the name or dates of the heads of family groups, and changes links pointing to those pages accordingly. In your case, it changed the page name from "Family:Charles M. Whitney (c1834-1900)" to "Family:Charles Mayo Whitney (c1834-1900)", when we supplied the middle name.

As far as pictures you uploaded to the WRG website, I find the following (in chronological order), and only those:

If you would like to add pictures, feel free to proceed. You can also add a link to Google Books if you so desire. If you would like assistance with these tasks, just ask.

I hope this clarifies the situation, and dispels your confusion.

Error Uploading File

Curt,

Sorry you had difficulty. The uploading of files has been broken for about two years. I have gotten the same error message, and reported it to Tim Doyle. Tim has been promising to update the wiki software for some time, but that hasn't happened yet. Hopefully once that is done, the uploading problem may be resolved (or may not!).

There are several other problems with the current wiki software which Tim hasn't been able to rectify. For one, "E-mail this user" doesn't work. For another, bots (programs to do editing automatically) are no longer working. For another, the website seems to crash quite often: over the last several months, it is averaging a crash about every six days. For another, "Discussion Forums" are not working, either.

I share your frustration with the problem you mentioned, and all the others above. We can only hope that Tim accomplishes the upgrade soon, and that it solves them.
