Welcome to the Whitney Research Group website, and thank you for adding in your lineage information. I linked in the pages that we have created for your family.
As far as Thomas Whitney's true parents, and whether you're a "true" Whitney or not, I can't say at this time. One way to find out is to have a direct male line descendant of Thomas get a DNA test. We can then compare that to the results for other Whitneys and see if he was perhaps related, or not. If you can identify a candidate (must be male, and a direct male line Whitney), let me know and I can give you further information. The test costs about $100.
