I do not even consider myself an amateur genealogist. I just want to find out more about my family. When I started, I knew my fathers and grandfathers names (and wives names) because they were on their tombstones. I was lucky enough to find the WRG within the first ten years of on-again off-again searching. That was a big enough leap with the photocopies and transcription project of Pierce to give me impetus to continue. As I get older, I also find less and less people to ask about sources, photos, and family stories.
