I belonged to this group many years ago.  It seemed to me that the Southern Whitneys weren't a very big part of any discussions, so I didn't check the site out anymore.  A distant cousin sent me the address and said to look at it again.  I found the info on Lovet T. My Whitney Line

Edit My Whitney Line

My name is Penny Whitney Woodford. I have been researching my Whitney line for about 17 years (long before I had a computer). The farthest back that I have gotten is Lovet P. Whitney b. abt 1808 in SC to ? Whitney and Sarah. He married Marion Hugens in 1828 in Butler Co, KY. I decend from Lovet's son William Norman Whitney who married Martha Jane Chapman (not Mary). They were my great grandparents. My grandfather was their son Adolphus Floyd Whitney and my father was his son Edwin Forrest Whitney.

I belonged to this group many years ago. It seemed to me that the Southern Whitneys weren't a very big part of any discussions, so I didn't check the site out anymore. A distant cousin sent me the address and said to look at it again. I found the info on Lovet T. Whitney to be very interesting. I felt that my Lovet P. must be related to the group from Wales because one of their decendants in KY named a child Lovet P. Whitney (1850 census). Lovet isn't a very common name.

I welcome any help from other researchers and am willing to share what I have. The Roots Web site mentioned as a source from "Earl" actually is from me. Earl is my husband and we share an email address which comes up with his name.
