I would like to know what information you have which connects the William Whitney with wife Roxana M. -----, of Sheldon, VT, in 1850, with William P. Whitney with wife Roxa Arvilla Kinsman, of Rochester, VT, in 1860.  The former was aged 27, and the latter was born 12 Feb 1825, so their ages are not quite a match.  Sheldon and Rochester are not near each other, the former being in northwest Vermont, near the Canadian border, and Rochester near the center of the state.  Frederick Clifton Pierce, in his Descendants of John Whitney, in his sketch of William P. Whitney, has no mention of more than one wife or a son Rollin.  While it is possible that they are the same, it seems to me that some further evidence is needed to make that identification beyond what is in the census records.

Welcome!

Bob,

Thank you for becoming a member of the Whitney Research Group, and for posting your lineage.
