I descend from John and Elinor of Watertown, Massachusetts through their son Benjamin. For many years, I was frustrated in tying into the John and Elinor line because I could not carry the line further back than Jabez (1780-ca. 1839). Through contacts made in the WRG, I found the will of Phinehas Whitney of Norridgewock, ME that named Jabez as his son and that unlocked all the lineage back to John and Elinor (and beyond). My line is John-1, Benjamin-2, Nathaniel-3, Isaac-4, Phinehas-5, Jabez-6, Thankful-7, Mary Cartwright-8, Richard Henry Poston-9, Howard Joseph Poston-10, me.
