I am interested in proving that I am a descendent of John and Elinor Whitney. After receiving a family tree from my father's cousin, Craig Whitney, I came upon the WRG where I found out that I am one of the Unconnected Families descended from Ebenezer and Huldah (Mooers) Whitney. My father is the last male Whitney in my family. As he is 87 1/2, time was of the essence in having his DNA tested. He agreed to take the test and we are waiting for a result at this time.

I am happy to report that my father's DNA test was an exact 37 marker match [to other descendants of the immigrant John Whitney]. I have also had my mtDNA tested.

I am sorry to announce that my father, Russell J. Whitney, passed away at the age of 91 on May 27, 2012.
