Whitney ancestors are from the John & Elinor lineage I believe

My grandfather Robert Earl Whitney was born and raised in Mexico, NY. Born in August of 1898

He had a sister Doris, several years younger.

He went to university on a wrestling scholarship, married Adeline Francis Shockey b. June 1904, Ohio.

They lived in Ohio where my father was born, eventually settling in Dansville, NY and had a prosperous furniture and appliance business with a large factory storefront called "Whitney's" He also owned a portfolio of rental residences in Rochester, NY, until he retired to Miami, FL where he sold real estate.

His father was William Whitney born 1857(?) or thereabouts. He had two spinster sisters who lived to be very old both into their 100's. His wife was Maude (Morre) Whitney. He was a farmer in Mexico, NY.

Had three children, Robert Earl Jr., Barbara, and Virginia Ellen. I am the first and only child of Robert Earl Whitney, Jr. (b. February 1924) and his wife Margaret Anna (Wohlleben) Whitney (b.February 1937.) I was raised by my paternal Whitney grandparents and remember my great grandfather who lived with us in Dansville until his death in 1961 or 1962. He would hold my hand and go for walks in town and his room smelt like sweet cigars.
