Family:Whitney, James Rix (1760-1822)
James Rex5 Whitney (Caleb4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of Caleb4 and Margaret (Tracy) Whitney was born 16 Oct 1760 at Middletown, CT[1], b. 16 Oct 1760 at Norwich, CT and died 4 Feb 1822 at Washington, MS, at age 61[2].
James married Mary Allen.
James marred Polly Holland 31 Oct 1781 at Windham, CT.
He Robert Ward's 6-Gen says he also married a Mary Allen. Whether it was prior to his marriage to Polly Holland and she died very soon thereafter, or if she was a second marriage is not clear. RW puts her name first, but the other marriage comes when James R. is only 21.
Mary Allen died on 22 Nov 1814 at Charleston, SC.

i. Jedediah6 Whitney, b. 3 Mar 1782 at New York, NY; m. Keziah Barrett 7 May 1805 at GA; d. 2 Sep 1826 at Charleston, SC, at age 44. ii. Lebbeus Whitney b. 8 Oct 1785 at Hillsboro, NC; m. Elizabeth Ford 1808 at Philadelphia, PA; d. 7 Sep 1849 at Pottsville, PA, at age 63. iii. Mary Whitney b. 1787 at GA; m. Richard Hardin say 1810; d. at MO; southern part of the state. - She and Richard Hardin lived in 1823 at Hadden's Ford, GA. She and Richard Hardin had seven children.
iv. William Whitney b. 1790 at GA; m. (--?--) (--?--) say 1810 at GA; first wife; m. Sarah Leggett say 1813 at GA; second wife; m. Mary Coleman 31 Jul 1823 at MS; third wife, second husband; m. (--?--) Witherspoon 1831; fourth wife, second husband; d. 22 Apr 1864 at MS. - He and (--?--) (--?--) had no children. He and (--?--) Witherspoon had no children.
v. John Merrick Whitney b. 4 Jun 1792 at Franklin, GA; m. Clarissa Montgomery 19 Oct 1818; d. 18 Nov 1867 at Fayette, MS, at age 75.
Polly Holland was born between about 1760-0-0 and 17 at of Windham, CT. She may be the same person as one Mary HOLLAND, daughter of Joseph and Mary (ALLEN) HOLLARD, who was born about 1764, New London, New London Co., CT.
There were no children of James Rex5 and Polly (Holland) Whitney.
