Family:Whitney, Rufus (1796-1861)

Rufus⁶ Whitney (Tarball⁵, Solomon⁴, David³, Joshua², John¹), born Dec 18, 1796, in Poultney, Vermont; married 19 May 1839, Laura Maria Picket, born Oct 8, 1819. He died Jan 22, 1861, resided Almond, New York.

Children of Rufus⁶ Whitney:

i.	Albert Russell7 Whitney, born Sep 19, 1840; married Sarah Treat. He served in the Union Army in the war of 1861, was captured by the rebels and died from disease contracted in Andersonville prison pen while on his way home, Nov 5, 1864. Had a son, Lewis R., who at one time resided at Almond.
ii.	Edwin Henry Whitney, born Sept 21, 1842; married Adelia Perry.
