Samuel⁸ Whitney (Smyrna⁷, Samuel⁶, Samuel⁵, William⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), born Westminster, Massachusetts, 9 Mar 1821; married Nov., 1848, Carolina A. Puffer; born Feb. 28, 1823.

He was born in Westminster, Massachusetts. He was a prominent church member, was very liberal with his money, giving large amounts for religious work and to charity. He was very successful in his business, that of manufacturing paper. He died Mar. 30, 1868; resided Ashland, and Fitchburg, Massachusetts.

Children of Samuel⁸ Whitney:

i.	Clarence S.9 Whitney, born 27 Mar 1850; married Martha W. Hunt.
ii.	Josephine Maria Whitney, born Feb., 1853; died Sept., 1854.
iii.	William Erving Whitney, born 9 Aug 1855; married Mary E. Fenn.
iv.	Jennie Louise Whitney, born Nov., 1858; died 1 Jul 1885.
