V. Hannah Clarinda Root, b. in New Canaan, Conn., 5 Ap. 1833; married in the "Presbyterian Church" in New Canaan, by Rev. Theophilus Smith, 21 March 1852, to Sidney Rodney Lounsbury, a shoemaker, son of Stephen Lounsbury, of Stamford, Conn., where he was born 2 March 1833. They lived at Cascade, Wis., in 1868, and at Aurora, Neb., in 1873. He served, for about four years, in the Union army, during the late rebellion.

VI. Mary Ruth Root, b. in New Canaan, Conn., 21 Feb. 1836; married, 21 Sept. 1856, at South Norwalk, Conn., by Rev. F. Bottome, of the M. E. Church, to John Maxwell Crowe, a carpenter, son of Thomas Y. Crowe, of South Norwalk, where he was born 28 March 1832. He enlisted at Norwalk, Conn., 22 Ap. 1861, in Co. A, 3d Reg., Conn. V. I.; was discharged with the regiment, 14 Aug. 1861; re-enlisted, 14 July 1862; was taken prisoner, 4 Feb. 1865; was released from Andersonville prison, 29 Ap. 1865; and was discharged from the service, 14 July 1865. They lived at South Norwalk, in 1873.
