IV. Mary Elizabeth Leavenworth Whitney, b. at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., 20 Feb. 1839; married there, 18 Jan. 1866, in her father's house, by Rev. James L. Corning, Congregational, to Edward R. Sherman, an operator in oil, of Pit Hole City, Penn. She died of consumption, at Poughkeepsie, 29 July 1866, and was buried in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. He was living at Titusville, Penn., in 1874.

V. Margaret Ann Whitney, b. at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., 5 Jan. 1841; married there, in the Congregational Church, 22 Ap. 1868, Ross Leslie, a grocer, who was born at Syracuse, N.Y., 3 Oct. 1841. His parents, John and Margaret (Cunningham) Leslie, were from the north of Ireland. They settled at Syracuse, and were living there, at 32 East Onondaga Street, in Aug. 1874; he being then a member of the firm of John & David Leslie, of that City.
