married, 1 Oct. 1846, in Coventry, N. Y., by his uncle, Rev. John Benedict Hoyt, Presbyterian, to Emeline Stiles Gilmore, who was horn 26 Oct. 1822. He lived at Bath, N. Y., in 1873.
2000 VII. Rufus Fancher Hoyt, b. in Walton, N. Y., 24 Nov. 1823: a merchant's clerk; married, 24 Dec. 1846, at Maine Village, N. Y., by Elder William Gates, Baptist, to Laura Angeline Barnum, dau. of Dr. Forward and Nancy (Leadbetter) Barnum, of Great Barrington, Mass., formerly of Alford, Mass., where she was born 17 May 1820. He has lived in Greene, N. Y.; in the State of Maine; in Union, N. Y.; and in Binghamton, N. Y., which last place was his home in 1874. 6352
2001 VIII. Emma Lucretia Hoyt, b. in Walton, N. Y., 10 Dec. 1825; married, 24 Dec. .856, at Nineveh, N. Y., by her brother, Rev. Willard Miner Hoyt, Presbyterian, to Samuel Augustus Beardsley, a farmer, born in Coventry, N. Y., 30 Jan. 1826, son of Zerah and Sally Bronson (Martin) Beardsley. They settled in Coventry, and still resided there in 1873. 6356
2002 IX. Samuel Gilbert Hoyt, b. in Walton, N. Y., 26 Feb. 1828; a sign-painter; married, 27 Aug. 1851, at Coventry, N. Y., by his uncle, Rev. John Benedict Hoyt, Presbyterian, of Coventry, to Charlotte Ridout Elliott, born in Utica, N. Y., 25 Sept. 1829, dau. of John and Jane (Ridout) Elliott, who were natives of England. He lived in Greene, N. Y., for three years; in Binghamton, N. Y., two years ; in Walton, three years ; in Manhattan, Kansas, sixteen years; and was still living there in 1873. He enlisted in 1862; was on detached service, as acting hospital steward, in Arkansas and Indian Territory, for nearly two years;. was discharged by order of the Secretary of War, for promotion as hospital steward in the regular army; declined to re-enlist, as contemplated in the order: returned to Kansas, and was ordered to report as clerk to Dept. Hd. Quarters, at Fort Leavenworth, where he remained until the close of the war, and was discharged without having seen any service in the field. He was mayor of Manhattan City, Kansas, in 1860; is vestryman and treasurer of an Episcopal Church, in which he and his wife, and eldest daughter, are communicants; ; and, besides holding several township, city, school, and party offices, has been twice county-clerk, and, for eight years, registrar of deeds for Riley County, Kansas. 6357
2003 X. Mary Rebecca Hoyt, b. in Walton, N. Y., 27 Dec. 1829; married, 27 Aug. 1851, in Coventry, N. Y., by her uncle, Rev. John Benedict Hoyt, Presbyterian, to Vincent White, a harness-maker, born in Hackettstown, N. J., 8 Ap. 1822, son of Vincent and Achsah (McCracken) White. They settled, about 1854, in Greenville, N.
